Link Weight

Link Weight

Another consideration of internal linking in conserving or distributing link weight.
Most websites have the majority of inbound links directed at their index page. So take a look at your index page. Are all you’re most important pages linked to from your index page? Or are your most important pages a couple clicks away?
Follow this simple formula:
The more important the page, the more occurrences of links to that page within the site. The less important the page, the less frequent the number of links.
Some pages, such as Terms Of Service or Acceptable Use Policy pages, need not have a link from each page. And links to external sites should be kept at a minimum.

Site Navigation

How to build site Navigation

Site Navigation structure needs to be visible to the search engines. Some page components are simply invisible to you can view click heres. For instance, a website navigation structure created with JavaScript won’t work for the search engines. If the only way to navigate your Web site is with the JavaScript navigation, you have a problem. The only pages the search engines will find are the ones with links pointing to them from other Web sites (Inbound links); the search engines won’t be able to find their way around your site.
Here are a few tips for effective website navigation effective website navigation
  • If you use JavaScript navigation, or some other technique that is invisible, make sure that you have a plain HTML navigation system, too, such as basic text links at the bottom of your pages.
  • Even if your navigation structure is visible to search engines, you may want to have these bottom-of-page links as well. They’re convenient for site visitors and provide another chance for the search engines to find your other pages. Yet another reason for bottom-of-page, basic text navigation: If you have some kind of image-button navigation, you don’t have any keywords keywordin the navigation for the search engines to read.
  • Add a site map page and link to it from your main navigation. It provides another way for search engines to find all your pages.
  • Whenever possible, provide keywords in text links as part of the navigation structure.
It is also very important that your website navigation should be user friendly. Make sure that the visitor knows at all times what section they are visiting and can reach any section easily. A key aspect to make your visitors happy is insuring they go where they need to go, quickly and efficiently.
